Web research asks your question of the open web: news, press releases, company sites, and any other coverage about each tracked company. It runs monthly and counts as 5 signals against your allowance. On a signal it appears as Premium Research.

When to use it

Reach for web research when the evidence lives outside LinkedIn:
  • A funding round covered by the trade press before anyone posts about it
  • An acquisition, partnership, or contract win announced in a press release
  • Expansion, certification, or regulatory news published on the company’s own site
  • Anything about a company whose team barely posts at all
This is the one that reaches quieter companies. Plenty of good accounts publish almost nothing socially and are still written about.
Web research counts as 5 signals rather than 1. Aim it at behaviours where outside coverage is genuinely the better source, rather than adding it to everything by reflex.

What you configure

Ask for something that would be published — an event, a milestone, a decision. A question about private internal detail has no public evidence to find, so it comes back empty however often it runs.

What you get back

Each finding states what was found and cites the pages it came from, so you can open the source and verify it before using it in outreach. One finding can carry several sources when more than one outlet covered the same event. Findings appear on the company alongside everything else that behaviour has detected.
Pair it with social research on the same behaviour. The web tells you a round closed; social tells you which of your contacts is celebrating it — and that’s the one to reply to.
