Social research asks your question of each tracked company’s own social activity — what the company posts, what its employees post, and what other people post about it. It runs daily and counts as 1 signal against your allowance. On a signal it appears as Social Research.

When to use it

Reach for social research when the evidence would show up on LinkedIn first:
  • A hire announced by the person, their manager, or the company page
  • A round celebrated by the founder before any press covers it
  • An office opening shared by the team that moved in
  • A company talking publicly about a problem you solve
It finds more than a keyword search does, because it isn’t limited to the wording you thought of — your question is what decides whether something counts.

What you configure

Keep the question answerable from something a company or its people would actually say in public, and keep it about them rather than about your product.
A narrow question gives sharper findings. “Has this company hired a VP of Sales” beats “is this company growing” — the second is true of almost everyone and tells you nothing you can open a conversation with.

What you get back

Each finding states what was found and links the posts behind it, so you can read the original before acting on it. Findings appear on the company alongside everything else that behaviour has detected. Social research covers every company you track, so a company that has the news you asked about is reported whether or not it reached your sourcing.
