# Import your LinkedIn connections

> Download your LinkedIn connections export and upload it to bring your whole network into a connections signal.

Connecting your LinkedIn login picks up your most recent connections and every new one from then on. To bring in the rest of your network, however far back it goes, upload the export LinkedIn gives you.

<Tip>
  LinkedIn can take up to 24 hours to prepare the export. Request it as soon as you set up the signal.
</Tip>

## Request your export from LinkedIn

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your data settings">
    On LinkedIn, click **Me** in the top bar, then **Settings & Privacy**. Open **Data privacy** and choose **Get a copy of your data**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Connections">
    Choose **Want something in particular? Select the data files you're most interested in** and tick **Connections**. You don't need the full archive.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Request the archive">
    Click **Request archive** and enter your LinkedIn password if asked. LinkedIn emails you when the export is ready.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Download and unzip it

Follow the link in LinkedIn's email, or go back to **Get a copy of your data**, and download the export. It arrives as a ZIP file.

Unzip it and find `Connections.csv`. That is the file to upload. Clearcue takes the CSV itself, not the ZIP.

## Upload it to Clearcue

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find your connections signal">
    Go to **Signals** and find your LinkedIn connections signal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the import">
    Open the **⋯** menu on the signal and choose **Import connections (CSV)**. It reads **Re-import connections (CSV)** if you've uploaded one before.

    The **Upload export** button in the **Finish setting up** dialog opens the same upload.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload the file">
    Drop in `Connections.csv` and click **Import connections**. Progress shows in the dialog while the file is processed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Good to know

* **Every connection in the file is imported**, with no date cut-off.
* **Re-importing is safe.** A connection that's already tracked is never counted twice. Upload a fresher export whenever you like and only what's new is added.
* **Some connections can't be imported.** LinkedIn leaves out the profile link for connections who hid their profile. Without it there's nothing to track.
* **The file must be a CSV of up to 50 MB.** An unedited `Connections.csv` is far smaller. If the import says the file doesn't look like a connections export, check you uploaded `Connections.csv` and not another file from the archive.
